Why Business Planning Is One Secret to Success This Year

Leadership matters. Heart-centered leaders are needed now, more than ever. As business owners, our decisions and actions have impact on people’s lives and our communities.

Do you set aside time regularly to plan what you want to do in your business? If not, I strongly encourage you to embrace it for this year as well as going forward. Setting aside time to plan out what you want to do and more importantly the people you want to serve and the growth you want to have is crucial to your success. This month, I want to share with you what I’ve learned and what I’ve found helpful.

Let’s start off by taking a look at why business planning is “one significant secret” to success. There are a few different factors that come up. The first is efficiency. When you start off the year with a clear plan, you can focus on priorities and what’s most important. Instead of spending time trying to figure out what you should be working on, or what's missing from your business model, or what you need to do to break through to more profit, you know exactly what comes next (and you're better prepared for adjustments along the way).

I’ll share in a future blog post, how easy it can be to have a clear goal in mind and a plan for the year, then, walk backwards to create effective and efficient daily habits. You're more likely to reach your goals when you align with your values and focus on accomplishing priorities.

Next, setting a big goal for yourself helps you move beyond where you are right now. If you don’t believe me, try it. Decide on a big goal for the coming month. Write it down. Keep it in front of you. Then, get to work and start to notice what happens. You might think of things that didn’t occur to you before. You might come up with creative ways to get more exposure or traffic. You might decide to run a fun promotion that increases your cash flow. You might even come up with a unique way to connect with existing customers and clients. The same happens when an important deadline comes up unexpectedly. Think back to a time when your friends or in-laws told you they would stop by later in the day (and your home was not as tidy as you prefer) . Did you get very creative about cleaning up before their arrival?

Last but not least, let’s talk about your subconscious mind. So far, we’ve been fixated on what we're actively doing to make progress, by making a plan, setting goals and following through. There’s another dimension that can also make a big difference and that’s what’s going on in our subconscious mind. While we are busy concentrating on our to-do list, cooking dinner, and even sleeping, our subconscious mind is working towards those goals as well.

In short, planning is important because it can help you to set your intentions and create your reality. That means, you end up having more  meaning in your life doing what you love, more resources, and more time with your loved ones while spending less time feeling tired, exhausted, and overwhelmed reacting to business disruptions.

Imagine how much your business would grow by having a plan that aligns with your vision, values and much more.

Are you ready to save a ton of time and money to grow your business and enjoy your life? If you answered, yes, then, let's connect.
